Spring Registration

Online registration remains open with limited space available in most leagues. Don’t hesitate, register today!

Although we expect every registered child to play in the WYBSL, we know that some unforeseen circumstances do arise that might cause a player to withdraw from the league. In order to request and receive a refund, a parent or guardian must send an e-mail message to WYBSL@WYBSL.ORG (with the word REFUND in the subject line) – reporting the player’s name, league, date and reason for withdrawal. If the withdrawal is reported:

  • By March 31, a full refund will be given
  • By April 30, a $25 fee will be charged
  • On or after May 1, there shall be no refund

Assessments – April 6

The WYBSL conducts two (2) types of assessments to place players on teams. Assessments will be held Saturday, April 6 at Huber Village and Highlands Parks.

  • Skill Assessments – for 8U/10U/12U/14U/18U Baseball and 10U/12U Softball
  • Play-up Assessments – for players who registered to “play-up” to an older league and did not play in that league last year.

Please see details here and the schedule on our website calendar. The rain date is Sunday, April 7, 3 hours later than originally scheduled.

Don’t forget to check the weather hotline (614-523-6220) on Saturday before heading to the field.

New League Designations

For those who have been in the WYBSL for a while, this Spring you’ll notice changes to our “league designations.” We will no longer be referring to the different age divisions as “Green Hat, Red Hat, Blue Hat and Black Hat” but instead using the more widely used numerical age descriptions:

  • 8U Softball & 8U Baseball (formerly Coach-Pitch)
  • 10U Softball & 10U Baseball (formerly Green Hat)
  • 12U Softball & 12U Baseball (formerly Red Hat)
  • 14U Baseball & 17U Softball (formerly Blue Hat)
  • 18U Baseball (formerly Black Hat)

Playing ages are determined by the player’s age as of 4/30/24. The league still allows player to “play-up” to the next older division per Play-up provisions outlined under General Registration Information.

Lindsay’s Law

Started in 2018, an Ohio law requires the WYBSL to provide information to all parents/guardians, players and coaches regarding the incidence of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Additionally, parents/guardians and players wishing to play in the WYBSL must read the handout, watch a required Ohio Department of Health (ODH) video – and sign an acknowledgement form as part of online registration.

Coaches must also read the SCA handout, watch the ODH video and sign an acknowledgement form as part of their volunteer registration as well.

Please visit the ODH website to access this information and forms.

Concussion Certification

All official head and assistant coaches must complete the free, online concussion training as required by Ohio Law. Read more and take the training.

PARENTS – if you son or daughter was removed from a practice or game as the result of a possible concussion,  you must have your physician/care provider complete and sign a medical clearance form and submit it to your coach.
