WYBSL planned some old-fashioned twists to its entire program throughout 2011. We hope that you joined players, coaches, alumni, fans and community members at some special family events, which included:
“LUNCH AT THE BALLPARK” SENIOR CITIZEN’S LUNCH
Friday, February 18 at the Westerville Senior Center
Hot dogs, hamburgers, apple pie, popcorn and some old-fashioned fun for all members of the Westerville Senior Citizen Center.
WESTERVILLE BOWL-A-THON
Saturday, February 26 at the Columbus Bowling Palace (5707 Forest Hills Blvd.)
The Westerville community joined together as WYBSL took part as a sponsor and participant in the Executive Challenge.
WYBSL AT WESTERVILLE “4th FRIDAYS”
Six Evenings (each fourth Friday from April through September) in Uptown
We hosted activities that changed from month to month, highlighting League history, games, baseball/softball skills and more.
SPRING “FIRST PITCH” CELEBRATION
Saturday, May 14 at Hoff Woods Park
Spring Photo Day, MLB Pitch, Hit and Run competition, W.A.R.M. food drive, community softball games, ballpark food and a few surprises.
SANDLOT FESTIVAL AND MOVIE NIGHT
Friday, June 17 at Everal Barn
An old-fashioned picnic and carnival with games, good food and more – and we watched The Sandlot with popcorn for all.
WYBSL ALL-STAR SATURDAY
Sunday, July 3 at Huber Village/Highlands Parks
A full day of league All-Star Games and Home Run Derbies.
OHIO VILLAGE MUFFINS vs. JBBL ALUMNI
Saturday, July 2 at the Sports Complex
A 1860’s-style game between the Ohio Historical Society’s Ohio Village Muffins and a team of JBBL Alumni.
FALL BALL OPENING DAY
Saturday, August 27 at City and School Diamonds
Each year, almost 1,000 players take part in WYBSL’s newest tradition. We hope that you cheered the boys and girls on as we played our 16th Fall Ball season.
WYBSL MEMORY WALL DEDICATION
Saturday, October 15 at Huber Village Park at 12:00 Noon
Westerville and WYBSL dedicated a unique permanent area with memory walls, statues and historical markers.
