Playing Up
With League permission and if space permits, a child may play-up one year (not one league); for example, a six year old can request to play in Coach-Pitch instead of Tee-Ball – a five year old may not. To request this option, a Play-Up Form must be submitted each season and such players must attend a mandatory assessment session. Parents should not request that a player “play down” to a younger level.
To play-up, a player MUST either:
- Have played in the same higher age division before (prior Spring/Summer or Fall season) or
- Attend a mandatory play-up assessment session. Times and locations for each age group are listed in the Spring Newsletter calendar.
Please note, there are NO play-ups allowed for the Girls’ Black Hat League. Players participating in interscholastic, middle/high school programs can not attend assessments and will be assigned to teams.
The WYBSL staff must agree that the player is able to safely and competitively play at the requested level and reserves the right to re-evaluate the player at any time and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of all participants.
If the player does not meet the above criteria, the parents will be contacted and given the option of playing at the normal age level, if space is available.
Be sure to complete the “Play-Up” Form which must be submitted with your registration form and payment.
Request to Play With One Friend
TEE-BALL & SOFTBALL COACH-PITCH SOFTBALL ONLY. In order to be put on a team with one friend or be paired with another coach, both players must request each other on their registration forms. We will not necessarily honor requests for more than one person who lists the same friend and will not allow “chaining”, where one player lists one friend who lists another friend and so on. Lastly, requests must be made by the regular registration deadline to be guaranteed.
Refunds
Although we expect every registered child to play in the WYBSL, we know that some unforeseen circumstances do arise that might cause a player to withdraw from the league. In order to request and receive a refund, a parent or guardian must send an e-mail message to WYBSL@WYBSL.ORG (with the word REFUND in the subject line) – reporting the player’s name, league, date and reason for withdrawal. If the withdrawal is reported:
- By March 31, a full refund will be given
- By April 30, a $25 fee will be charged
- On or after May 1, there shall be no refund
