What and When is Photo Day?
Team Photo Day is held in mid-May (see the current issue of Batter Up!, the League newsletter for this season’s location and date). Midwest Sports Photos, a professional photography company, comes to Westerville and takes individual and team pictures. A variety of pictures and packages may be purchased. Your child will receive a flyer from his/her coach before Photo Day – and your coach should tell you where and when to report. The program is very similar to school photo days. Players should bring their glove and/or bat for use in his/her individual picture. Every player should attend at your designated time, because – even if youdon’t wish to purchase a photo – your teammates would like a picture of the whole team as a remembrance.

The MLB-sponsored Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition for Westerville is offered by the City of Westerville and WYBSL in early May (see the current issue ofBatter Up!, the League newsletter, for this season’s date, time and location). Open to all boys and girls (ages 7 through 14), this is a FREE local qualifier, with the winners advancing to a sectional competition.

What and When are Skills Clinics?
Girls and boys in our Green Hat and Red Hat leagues have the opportunity to improve their abilities at WYBSL’s annual Spring Skills Clinics, usually held in late April or early May (see the current issue of Batter Up!, the League newsletter, for this season’s dates, locations and times). In past years, Varsity softball and baseball coaches from Westerville’s high schools and college and high school players have shared drills and techniques – in hitting, fielding, pitching and catching – which have benefited many of our players. Coaches and parents are encouraged to attend.

What and When is All-Star Saturday?
Usually on the Saturday closest to the 4th of July (see the current issue of Batter Up!, the league newsletter, for this season’s date), the WYBSL Spring/Summer leagues take a traditional break to celebrate the Independence Day weekend with annual All-Star Games and Home Run Derbies for Green Hat leagues and older at Highlands and Huber Village Parks. Everyone is invited to come out and cheer – look on our website in late June for the schedule of the festivities.

What and When is WYBSL Fall Ball?
Fall Ball is the youngest part of the WYBSL program – and each year, it offers approximately 1,000 young people a chance to work on their baseball, softball or tee-ball skills in a team environment and gain another season of game experience. It also allows our young people to participate in the league in which they will play the next Spring/Summer season – helping players who are moving up to get accustomed to rule changes, older competitors and, in some cases, larger diamonds.
Fall Ball practices begin in mid-August and the season continues to mid-October. Look for information about Fall Ball on our website or in the Fall issue of Batter Up!, the League newsletter, in early June.
