What days will we practice and play games?
Practices and games are usually scheduled on each league’s designated ‘playing days’ (see the current issue of Batter-Up!, the League newsletter, for the designated ‘playing days’ for each league). In all leagues except Tee-Ball, each team will have five scheduled practices during the preseason. Coaches may also schedule up to two additional practices during the season – and our make-up games are played on Sunday afternoons, Mondays and during the week following the scheduled end of the season.

How often will we practice or play games?
During the preseason, two practices each week will generally be scheduled on one evening and Saturday. During the regular game season, each team will generally have two scheduled games per week, on one weeknight and on Saturday.

Where will we practice and play?
Your team will practice and play at various parks and schools around Westerville. A map, showing the location of our 41 diamonds of play can be found in each issue of Batter Up!, the League newsletter – and on our website under ‘Diamond Locations’. Usually, only a certain set of diamonds will be used for each league. Please speak to any League Manager to see which diamonds will generally be used for your league during the current season.

What are the rules for our age league?
We use the rules of the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) with modifications for each age. A Summary of the Program and Rules for each Fall Ball league, which describes these modifications, will be available on our website in early August each year. Click on ‘Rules’ on the left to access these summaries for each league in the WYBSL.

How do we find out about weather cancellations?
On game days (and for Special Events, such as Photo Day, Skills Clinics, etc.), call the WYBSL Weather HotLine (614/523-6220). On game or special event days, the HotLine will be updated with delays, cancellations and location changes at 4:00 PM on weekdays (3:30 PM beginning in late September), 7:30 AM on Saturdays and 11:00 AM on Sundays. The League will not generally give further updates on weekdays, but will update the HotLine on weekends if weather conditions change in time for us to give an alert for later games.
For practices and scrimmages, your head coach is responsible for canceling the activity and notifying team families. Any parents who would like to help with phone calls or field assessment for practices or scrimmages should talk to their coach. This is a great way to volunteer and it doesn’t require a lot of time.

When are Make-Up Games played?
Make-up games are scheduled on Sunday afternoons and/or Mondays to keep the schedule as current as possible. Game times on Sundays will vary, but will not start before noon. Make-up games may also be scheduled on the week after the scheduled season end.
During the Fall Ball season, our Make-Up Week is from Saturday through Thursday. This generally means that if your first necessary make-up game during a Saturday-Thursday period was originally scheduled on Saturday, it will generally be made up 8 days later on the following Sunday. If your first necessary make-up game during the make-up week was originally scheduled on Thursday, it will generally be made up 3 days later on Sunday. Generally, your first necessary make-up game will be made up on a Sunday afternoon and your second necessary make-up game will be made up on Monday evening. Of course, if we have a lot of rain during a period and are backed-up with make-up games, we will schedule make-up games as quickly as possible.
Make-Up Schedules for each weekend will generally be posted on the home page of our website on Friday morning.
