How can I become a coach?
If you are interested in coaching, please note this by checking the proper box on your player’s registration form. If you do not have a child playing in the league in which you wish to be a coach, please send an e-mail message to us at wybsl@wybsl.org. If you wish to speak to someone about coaching, please speak to a WYBSL Trustee or League Manager at registration – or contact the Boys’ or Girls’ Program Director (their phone numbers are listed on our ‘League Contacts’ page – or you can click on their names to send them an e-mail message from the same page),

How can I volunteer my services to the WYBSL?
Just speak to a WYBSL Trustee or adult volunteer at registration, complete a Volunteer Form and return it with your registration form, send an e-mail message to us at wybsl@wybsl.org, or contact our Human Resources Director (click on ‘League Contacts’ or ‘Volunteers’ in the Menu at the left).

What types of volunteers are needed? What jobs must be done?
A league the size of WYBSL requires the action and dedication of hundreds of adults annually. Everyone is busy! We’re very lucky that so many people in the WYBSL – parents and non-parents – find time to help, but we need you all. Whether it’s for one time, one project or – if a deeper commitment is possible – for several tasks or a year-round position, there are places for your talents and interests. When someone thinks about volunteering, they usually think of coaching – and we need about 600 head and assistant coaches each year. But we also need scorekeepers, ‘team moms and dads’, umpires (in Tee-Ball and Coach-Pitch) and a lot of assistance in the League. From help with mailings, registration and equipment to work with concessions, publicity, advertising – and many other assignments – the League can find a place for any talent or interest. So, whatever your skills or interests, your talent and commitment are welcome, needed and appreciated.

What responsibilities do we have for Concession duty?
All teams are required to supply parents to work in one of our three concession trailers one or two times per season. And, if parents don’t volunteer for this fun duty, the head coaches must serve. Generally, parent volunteers work (on a night that your child does not play) with a Concession Captain who also is the cook – taking and filling orders and staffing the cash register. WYBSL is not like other Leagues who require all parents to work ‘Concession Duty’ – and all profits are placed in our Fields/Special Fund to build, improve and maintain the diamonds on which we play.

Can we pay an extra fee to avoid Concession duty?
No! The trailers need to be staffed in order for the WYBSL to provide a service to all of our families, reduce player fees and survive financially.
